In front of the large screen, Qiao Xi responded with a soft voice, but Little Lu Huo couldn’t hear her.

“Xi Xi, Xi Xi.” Little Lu Huo blinked his big eyes, fluttering them. He cautiously called out Qiao Xi’s name.

Qiao Xi wrote on the paper: “I’m here.”

During class, Little Lu Huo listened attentively to the teacher’s lecture, but after a while, he couldn’t help but softly shout, “Xi Xi.”

The next second, the white paper displayed: “Hmm, I’m here.”

The sadness from being mocked by classmates disappeared, and the pain from being bullied was forgotten. Little Lu Huo was now very happy. It was as if he had discovered a rare treasure, something that belonged only to him.

At the end of the school day, every little classmate happily picked up their backpacks and went home.

Little Lu Huo took out his own backpack from the drawer and slowly packed his things, feeling a bit uneasy. “Will Xi Xi not like me?”

To facilitate communication, Little Lu Huo held a small notebook and a pen. Qiao Xi took the pen and wrote on it: “No.”

Little Lu Huo placed the backpack on his legs, covering them shyly. He carefully told Qiao Xi, “Xi Xi, I can’t walk with my legs.”

He was different from others. Would Xi Xi not like him either?

Qiao Xi reached out and patted his little head. She wrote on the paper: “No matter how you are, I like Little Lu Huo the most.”

On the wheelchair, Little Lu Huo earnestly read the words written on the paper repeatedly. His fair and tender little face blushed with shyness.

His big eyes blinked with joy, and he softly said, “I like Xi Xi the most too.”

In the school campus, Little Lu Huo pushed the wheelchair while chatting with Qiao Xi. He eagerly watched as Qiao Xi wrote on the small notebook.

Ahead, two little boys walked slowly.

“Tomorrow is my birthday. My mom prepared a cake for me, and there’s a birthday gift too,” one of the boys proudly told his classmate.

The other boy asked, “Will you invite me to your house for cake?”

The boy nodded, “We don’t have school tomorrow. Come to my house, my mom also prepared a lot of snacks…”

The wheelchair slowly turned behind them, and Little Lu Huo, of course, heard their conversation. Qiao Xi noticed a hint of loneliness on his little face.

She wrote in the notebook: “When is Huo Huo’s birthday?”

Little Lu Huo looked at the words on the paper, he lowered his head, feeling a bit embarrassed and somewhat insecure. “Tomorrow.”

It was also his birthday tomorrow.

Originally, he didn’t know what a birthday was, but every time Lu Rong Yao had a birthday, there would be cake to eat and he would receive many gifts. Many children would play with him.

He asked the aunt who took care of him and learned that everyone has a birthday, once a year, and parents help celebrate the child’s birth on that day.

Later, he asked the butler, and he learned that he also had a birthday. On that day, he found the cleanest clothes and put them on, waiting in his room to celebrate his birthday.

But as it got dark, he still didn’t get to eat a birthday cake or receive any gifts.

He realized that no one remembered his birthday.

After that incident, he understood that not everyone celebrates birthdays.

Little Lu Huo sniffed and lifted his head to tell Qiao Xi, “I don’t celebrate birthdays.”

A small sprout emerged on his little head.

His voice was tender, “Birthdays are not fun.”

The small sprout swayed.

He continued in a soft voice, “Not everyone celebrates birthdays, and I don’t like celebrating mine.”

The small sprout on top of his head shook a few times, looking cute and pitiful.

Qiao Xi didn’t want to tease Little Lu Huo, so she refrained from playing with his small sprout.

She wrote on the paper, asking Little Lu Huo what gift he would most like to receive.

After a while, Little Lu Huo, with his big eyes hiding a bit of shyness, spoke, “You.”

Even though he couldn’t see Qiao Xi, she was his best gift, something that no one else could possess.

In front of the large screen, Qiao Xi’s beautiful lips curled up. The little guy was so adorable, even when trying to coax someone.

He wouldn’t be any less cute when he grew up. She wrote on the notebook, “Apart from me, what other gift would you like?”

Little Lu Huo thought carefully for a while, blinking his bright eyes, and naively said, “I want to see Qiao Xi.”

Qiao Xi couldn’t help but reach out and pat his little head, writing, “You can’t see me.”

Little Lu Huo nodded obediently. It didn’t matter, Qiao Xi would always be there with him, talking to him, and he was very happy about that.

In the evening, Little Lu Huo returned to his small house. After finishing dinner, he diligently did his homework.

But every now and then, he would call out for Qiao Xi to make sure she was still there.

He was afraid that she would suddenly disappear.

In front of the large screen, Qiao Xi watched Little Lu Huo doing his homework and took out her phone to make a call to Big Lu Huo.

The call was quickly answered. “Lu Huo.”

“Hmm.”

Lu Huo’s voice was low, just a gentle response that was enough to send shivers down one’s spine.

“What flavor of cake do you like?” Qiao Xi asked him. There was silence on the other end of the phone.

“Come on, tell me, what flavor of birthday cake do you like?” Qiao Xi was curious.

“I don’t know.” The young boy flipped through his book and spoke slowly, “I’ve never had one.”

Qiao Xi’s hand holding the phone trembled. From young Lu Huo to grown-up Lu Huo, he had never eaten a birthday cake?

She looked at the little guy diligently doing his homework on the screen, and a sour feeling welled up in her chest.

She softly said, “Strawberry flavor is a bit sweet, chocolate flavor is more fragrant, or maybe mango flavor. Are you allergic to mango?”

On the other end of the phone, the young boy’s large hand pressed against the restless Xi Huo, and he lowered his gaze. “Qiao Xi, I don’t eat these things.”

Qiao Xi ignored him. “Alright, I understand.”

She hung up the phone.

Lu Huo tightened his grip on the phone and sat at the desk, motionless for a long time.

After a while, Xi Huo under his palm couldn’t be suppressed any longer, forcefully escaping from his big hand. Lu Huo’s dark eyes glanced at it briefly and continued flipping through the book.

Qiao Xi asked Bao Fu, “I’m going to make a cake now. If I leave, will the screen in the room keep playing?”

[Yes, Master, rest assured. The screen follows you and appears within one meter of your position]

So even if Qiao Xi left the room, no matter where she went, the screen would continue to follow her until she completed this task.

Qiao Xi thought this setup was really good and went downstairs to the kitchen.

When the chef saw Qiao Xi entering the kitchen, he was surprised and quickly said, “Miss, what would you like to eat? Let me cook for you.”

“Uncle Li, I want a cake.”

Chef Li quickly put on his chef’s hat. “What flavor does Miss want? I’ll make it right away.”

Qiao Xi shook her head. “Uncle Li, teach me how to make it. I want to make it myself.”

Looking at the screen in front of her, where little Lu Huo sat straight, with a serious expression, diligently doing his homework, she smiled and said, “I want to make a cake with many flavors.”

“Miss, you want to make it yourself?” Chef Li couldn’t hide his astonishment in his eyes.

Qiao Xi is the cherished pearl of her parents, Father Qiao and Mother Qiao, and has never set foot in the kitchen.

“Well, I want to do it myself. Uncle Li, can you teach me the steps to make a cake?” Qiao Xi put on a new white apron and stood in front of the kitchen counter, ready to start.

Chef Li knew that Qiao Xi was serious, so he didn’t say much and began teaching her how to make a cake.

At night, after little Lu Huo finished taking a bath, he came out of the restroom and immediately checked his little notebook to see if Qiao Xi had left a message for him.

He was wearing blue pajamas with little dogs printed on them, his fair face still wet with water, and his short bangs dampened by it, obediently clinging to his forehead. He looked like a freshly baked steamed bun.

“Xixi, Xixi,” the little steamed bun Lu Huo called out her name with a tender voice, melting hearts.

Qiao Xi sat in front of the large screen, working on her drawing. When she heard Lu Huo calling her name, she wrote on his little notebook: “I’m here.”

Lu Huo placed the notebook on his lap and then maneuvered his wheelchair to the side of the bed, using his little hands to support himself on the bed, moving his body onto it.

“Xixi, I’m going to sleep. See you tomorrow,” Lu Huo hesitated a bit.

Qiao Xi wrote: “See you tomorrow.”

Lu Huo placed the notebook in front of his small pillow to make sure it wouldn’t get lost before closing his eyes to sleep.

The little guy didn’t know that at midnight, Qiao Xi wrote on the notebook: “Happy birthday!”

Afterward, Qiao Xi went to Lu’s garden and picked many fresh flowers. She also found some spare ribbons.

Late at night, Qiao Xi quietly started decorating Lu Huo’s little house.

She placed the flowers in small vases and arranged them on every table. She also hung colorful ribbons inside the little house.

Just as dawn was approaching, Qiao Xi put the finished cake and the gifts she prepared into the screen.

The sky brightened completely, and sunlight streamed through the glass, casting a gentle glow in the room.

On the bed, little Lu Huo woke up.

He opened his eyes, still half asleep, with a hazy drowsiness in his big eyes. He blinked and immediately looked at the little notebook beside his pillow.

Seeing the few words written on it, his little mouth broke into a smile.

This was the first time someone wished him a happy birthday.

“It’s not my birthday yet,” he shyly whispered.

Above his head, a little sprout trembled.

When Lu Huo got up, carrying the little notebook, he noticed the decorations in the room.

“Ah,” he softly exclaimed, the room had become very beautiful.

Seeing a big gift box placed on the table, accompanied by a small one next to it, the little one couldn’t wait. He quickly sat on his wheelchair and hurried to the table.

“Xixi, Xixi,” the delight in little Lu Huo’s big eyes couldn’t be concealed.

Qiao Xi took his little notebook and wrote: “I’m here, open the gift box.”

The gift box was beautifully wrapped, with a cute bow tied on top. Little Lu Huo clumsily and cautiously opened the gift box, revealing a cake with four different colored layers. The ice cream colors made the cake look super adorable.

He licked his lips and said, “It’s a birthday cake.”

Qiao Xi wrote, “Do you like it?”

The reflection of the cake shimmered in Lu Huo’s eyes, and he couldn’t take his eyes off it. He felt a bit shy but happy and said, “I like it.”

Qiao Xi placed candles on the cake and lit them. She taught him, “Huo Huo, make a wish to the cake and blow out the candles. Your wish will come true.”

The candlelight reflected on Lu Huo’s face, shining brightly in his eyes. With sincerity, he said to the candles, “Xixi will always be with me.”

Qiao Xi couldn’t help but touch the little guy’s head. She didn’t tell him that when he grew up, he would often wear a cold expression towards her, telling her to leave and making her feel frustrated.

The candles were extinguished, and Qiao Xi helped cut the cake. She made four different flavors, and each color represented a different taste.

Qiao Xi wrote on a piece of paper, “Is it delicious?”

Lu Huo took a bite of the cake, and his joyful expression made his big eyes squint. In a sweet and muffled voice, he said, “It’s super delicious.”

Qiao Xi handed him the long gift box beside him and said, “This is your birthday gift.”

Lu Huo opened the gift box, revealing a painting. Slowly, he unfolded the painting and saw a beautiful and radiant girl drawn on the white paper, with the words “Xixi” written next to it.

His voice filled with surprise, he said, “This is Xixi.”

Qiao Xi wrote, “It’s me. You have to remember what I look like and never forget.”

Lu Huo nodded vigorously. He remembered what Xixi looked like and would never forget.

Qiao Xi stayed with Lu Huo for a while, watching him enjoy the sweet cake and listening to his childish praises. The two of them got along harmoniously and happily.

The large screen reminded Qiao Xi that her task time was almost up.

At this moment, the door of the little house was opened, and Lu Rong Yao, who was on vacation and bored at home, came in with his two younger brothers.

“The little cripple is stealing cake,” Lu Rong Yao saw the beautiful cake on the table, walked over, and snatched the cake. “Where did this cake come from? Why don’t I have one?”

“This is my cake, you can’t take it,” Lu Huo said anxiously. It was the cake that Xixi had given him.

He maneuvered his wheelchair to try and snatch the cake back.

Qiao Xi had long wanted to teach Lu Rong Yao a lesson. He always acted so arrogantly and bullied little Lu Huo.

She reached out and easily took the cake from Lu Rong Yao’s hand. In front of the shocked gazes of the children, she smeared the remaining cream from Lu Huo’s plate onto Lu Rong Yao’s face, slowly spreading it.

“Ah, Rong Yao, your face…”

“Ghosts! There are ghosts!”

“Wuwuwu, the ghost is punishing the child.”

The two other little boys were instantly scared and their legs went weak. They felt like crying.

Lu Rong Yao was much braver and he touched the cream on his face, wanting to curse, but his mouth was instantly stuffed with a handful of cream. “Mmm…!”

Little Lu Huo knew it was Qiao Xi helping him. The bad guy, Lu Rong Yao, was scolded by Qiao Xi.

It was the first time he realized that not everyone liked Lu Rong Yao, only Qiao Xi liked him.

Qiao Xi blocked Lu Rong Yao’s mouth with cream. She wanted to scare him again and give him a beating. But at that moment, the large screen reminded her that the time was almost up.

Just as she let go, Lu Rong Yao’s face was covered in cream. He got angry and approached, picking up a long gift box from the table, intending to smash it at little Lu Huo.

“Don’t!” Little Lu Huo saw that Lu Rong Yao was holding the painting Qiao Xi had given him. His dark, fierce eyes stared at him.

“I’m going to!” Lu Rong Yao threw the gift box at Lu Huo.

The gift box fell to the ground, the lid opened, and the painting inside fell out.

Qiao Xi wanted to scold him, but the next second, the large screen disappeared.

In the invisible screen, Lu Rong Yao picked up the fallen painting.

“My painting, give it back to me.” Little Lu Huo’s fair face had a stern expression. He stretched out his hand, wanting to take the painting back.

“I won’t give it back to you.” Lu Rong Yao was extremely wicked. In front of little Lu Huo, he directly tore the painting apart. “You bullied me, you smeared my face.”

“I’m not afraid of you.” Lu Rong Yao scattered the torn paper on the ground.

“My painting, the gift Xi Xi gave me…” Little Lu Huo saw Lu Rong Yao tearing and destroying his painting, dropping it on the ground, and even stepping on it. His eyes instantly turned red with anger.

He anxiously bent down, falling off his wheelchair, not caring about the pain. Little Lu Huo crawled on the ground to pick up the paper scraps.

This was the birthday gift Qiao Xi gave him.

Lu Rong Yao had no sense of restraint. He was just happy. He called his two brothers who were hiding outside the door, “Let’s throw the paper on the ground into the water basin and make the little cripple go pick it up.”

Little Lu Huo had red eyes. He tightly clenched a handful of paper scraps in his small hand. Amidst the shocked gazes of the others, he stuffed all the paper scraps into his mouth.

Qiao Xi belonged to him. He didn’t want anyone to snatch her away.
