At this moment, the clothes and jewellery suitable for Qiao Xi to wear at the birthday banquet were delivered. Each piece was carefully selected by Qiao’s mother, considering Qiao Xi’s temperament and appearance. Especially the dresses, they were tailored to Qiao Xi’s measurements, with every inch and minute detail meticulously handcrafted to perfection. Qiao’s mother truly loved her daughter. If she could retrieve the moon from the bottom of the water, she would have presented it to her as a pendant.

“Xiao Xi, choose which one you like. If none of them are suitable, I’ll have someone prepare more,” Qiao’s mother opened the boxes of matching jewellery. Under the lights, the jewellery was exquisitely beautiful, shimmering with dazzling brilliance. Some of them were even recently acquired from high-priced auctions.

Beside her, Zhao Yuxi, with her disfigured face, looked on with focused eyes. Although Qiao’s mother treated her as a daughter after Qiao Xi’s death, she had never given her any of Qiao Xi’s jewellery. Although she had received some jewellery, none of them compared to these treasures.

With this thought in mind, Zhao Yuxi felt not only an itch on her face but also an uncomfortable feeling gnawing at her heart. She bit her lip, her gaze falling on Qiao Xi’s fair and delicate face. She had always had the illusion that Qiao Xi should have been the one to die. After all, in the previous life, at this time, Qiao Xi had long been gone. Qiao Xi was like someone temporarily holding onto her belongings, and when Qiao Xi was no longer there, everything would fall back to her.

The gaze beside her quietly scrutinized her, and when Qiao Xi turned her head, she looked at Zhao Yuxi. “Your face won’t recover in a short time, will it?”

Facing Qiao Xi’s smooth and exquisite face, Zhao Yuxi instinctively lowered her head, and the hand on her lap tightened unconsciously. “My allergy should take a week to heal.”

Qiao Xi’s face revealed some interest, and she said something that stabbed at Zhao Yuxi’s heart. “What a pity. Then you won’t be able to attend the birthday banquet.”

Zhao Yuxi bit her lip. “Yes.”

“In that case, you don’t need to choose a dress today,” Qiao Xi’s expression was somewhat lazy as she continued to deliver a cutting remark, “After all, you probably won’t fit into any of them.”

Qiao’s mother comforted her, “It’s okay. You can wear beautiful clothes at any other time. What’s more important is your face. Xixi, you should go to the hospital later, don’t delay it.”

Zhao Yuxi nodded.

For the first time, she strongly wanted to know why Qiao Xi wasn’t getting sick! Why wasn’t she dying yet!

Due to Wen Qing’s absence, Grandpa Lu had sent another servant to take care of Lu Huo. Therefore, Qiao Xi couldn’t sneak into the Lu family to see Lu Huo today. Thinking about how Lu Huo always kept her at a distance because of his leg issues, Qiao Xi wanted to quickly eliminate the dark energy and heal his legs.

She currently had 38% of golden energy, which allowed her to open a small treasure chest.

The excited voice of Bao Fu sounded

[Master, this time opening a small treasure chest will consume 8% of the golden energy]

Qiao Xi had a rough understanding of the routine for opening small treasure chests.

Each time Qiao Xi opened a small treasure chest, the amount of golden energy consumed would increase. She needed to open it twice: once to view a segment and once to obtain an item, which meant deducting 16% of her golden energy.

“Go ahead,” Qiao Xi decided. After opening the small treasure chest, she still had 22% of her golden energy remaining, which could extend her life for another 66 hours.

In the next second, a large screen appeared before her eyes. Qiao Xi raised her gaze and met the black, shiny eyes of Little Lu Huo on the screen. He was wearing a clean little white shirt, and Qiao Xi noticed the school emblem on the upper left side of his chest. Looking around him, she saw many elementary school students. It turned out that Little Lu Huo was in a classroom.

Qiao Xi felt happy. Could he attend school now?

The current Lu Huo should be around 6 to 7 years old, still retaining his childlike innocence. He sat in a wheelchair, his small figure quiet. Due to the inconvenience of sitting in a wheelchair, the teacher arranged for him to sit alone in the back row, next to the window.

Qiao Xi felt a sense of joy. Little Lu Huo no longer had to be confined to a small room every day, facing four white walls. Now he could make some good friends.

During class, he was extremely well-behaved, attentively watching the blackboard and listening to the teacher’s lecture. The children were still young, only in first grade, and some restless ones couldn’t help but fidget. But Little Lu Huo, on the other hand, folded his two little hands neatly on the desk, sitting up straight. His soft, short bangs gently brushed against his forehead.

Qiao Xi’s heart fluttered with cuteness. Little Lu Huo was unbelievably well-behaved.

Whenever the teacher asked a question, his eyes would light up, but then dim down. He didn’t raise his hand but quietly watched the other classmates stand up to answer.

Clearly, the little one realized that he couldn’t stand up to answer the question, so he didn’t raise his hand.

During the break, the classroom was lively. After a few classes, Qiao Xi noticed that Little Lu Huo didn’t touch his cup after taking a sip of water at the beginning. His lips were dry, indicating that he was thirsty, but he only licked the corner of his mouth.

However, physiological needs couldn’t be controlled. Even if he didn’t drink much water, Little Lu Huo still wanted to use the restroom. He maneuvered his wheelchair and went out through the back door, attracting curious glances from his classmates. His tender little face remained composed, and his long eyelashes trembled, concealing the embarrassment and unease in his large eyes.

He already knew how to distinguish whether people’s laughter was friendly or unfriendly.

Now everyone pointed at his feet, looking at him with strange gazes and laughing, and he knew they didn’t like him.

The restroom was at the end of the corridor, and he had to pass by several classrooms along the way. The small wheelchair turned, drawing the full curiosity of his classmates, who kept staring and observing him.

Qiao Xi felt heartbroken, even though some of the classmates may not have had malicious intent, the constant stares and curious gazes took a toll on Little Lu Huo. The psychological resilience of an adult would be challenged, let alone the innocent and naive Little Lu Huo.

The school restroom facilities were different from those in Little Lu Huo’s living quarters. There were no specially equipped restrooms for disabled individuals. After a long wait, Qiao Xi saw Xiao Lu Huo emerge from the restroom in a dishevelled state.

The bell for the next class was about to ring, and he needed to return to the classroom. As his wheelchair passed by one of the classrooms, a few mischievous male classmates exchanged glances in the corridor. One of the boys reached out and pushed the wheelchair forcefully.

The force was strong, causing the wheelchair to tilt forward, and Little Lu Huo fell directly from it. Qiao Xi’s heart skipped a beat, wishing she could rush in and lift him up.

Little Lu Huo, lying on the ground, looked dazed. He lifted his head, surrounded by a group of boys who pointed and mocked him.

“Why can’t his legs walk?”

“Kick his legs and see if he can feel anything.”

“If he can’t even walk, then he can’t play basketball or soccer.”

“How did someone with a disability end up in our school?”

The words of his classmates carried an unknowing malice, each one felt like a knife piercing Little Lu Huo.

His hands were scraped, but he didn’t cry. Slowly, he lifted his upper body, attempting to get back onto the wheelchair. Just as his hand reached the wheelchair, the mischievous boy pulled it back, causing Little Lu Huo to lose support and fall to the ground again.

Instantly, it drew laughter and jeers from the surrounding people.

Perhaps feeling the pain, tears welled up in Little Lu Huo’s dark, large eyes. He remained silent, refusing to cry.

Qiao Xi’s chest felt like it was tightly stuffed with cotton, she felt the urge to hit someone.

At that moment, the bell for the next class rang, and the group of boys surrounding Little Lu Huo quickly ran back to the classroom.

The lively corridor suddenly fell silent, and in the classroom, the classmates sitting near the corridor couldn’t help but look at Little Lu Huo outside the window. However, no one was willing to come out and help him up.

Little Lu Huo bit his lip and crawled forward, reaching out to grab the wheelchair nearby.

His clean school uniform was dirtied by the dust on the ground, with a black smudge on it.

After spending so much time together, Qiao Xi knew that Little Lu Huo liked cleanliness. Even when sitting in a wheelchair, he always wanted to keep himself tidy, wearing a white shirt that was neatly ironed, free of wrinkles. There was no hint of sluggishness on him.

He took life seriously.

Now, the clean and beautiful child was being bullied and in disarray. He pulled the wheelchair in front of him, slowly climbed onto it, and sat down.

The teacher appeared and saw Little Lu Huo lingering in the corridor, urging him to quickly return to the classroom for class.

When the wheelchair turned back to the classroom door, the teacher and classmates stopped and quietly watched Little Lu Huo.

Everyone’s gaze felt like needles, piercing Little Lu Huo’s soft and pure heart.

He lowered his head in shame, as if he had done something wrong.

In an instant, Qiao Xi’s eyes welled up with tears, and her nose felt a strong sensation of pain.

The teacher asked Little Lu Huo to quickly return to his original position and continue the class.

After his trip to the restroom, Little Lu Huo had a hard time. He put the water bottle back into his small backpack and decided not to drink water at school anymore.

Through the large screen, Qiao Xi saw that Little Lu Huo had scraped his hand when he fell.

Qiao Xi asked Bao Fu, “I drew a gift, does that mean I can send anything into the screen?”

She had just drawn a small treasure chest with props, and her luck was good today. She actually got a prop combination: Touch and Allow Three Items to be Sent Inside.

Bao Fu’s excited voice came

[Yes, Master, your luck is really good this time]

Qiao Xi quickly ran to the cabinet and found a bottle of potion.

It was summer now, and the sun was shining outside the window. The bright light fell on Xiao Lu Huo, who lowered his head quietly.

Suddenly, a bottle of potion appeared before his eyes.

Little Lu Huo’s big eyes widened, and he was somewhat surprised, somewhat unable to believe it.

He looked around and saw that the other classmates were either listening to the class or dozing off, unaware of the extra bottle of potion on his desk.

Little Lu Huo wanted to reach out and touch the bottle of potion, but suddenly, the cap of the bottle was twisted open.

In the next second, his injured hand felt a cool sensation as the potion automatically applied itself.

Little Lu Huo was even more astonished, his little mouth slightly open.

The sting of the potion made the wound slightly painful, and Little Lu Huo’s chubby little finger curled up.

Unlike the previous prop she drew, which could only be touched with the hand, this time Qiao Xi stood in front of the large screen, grasping Little Lu Huo’s wrist. She lowered her head and blew gently, a cool and gentle breeze falling on Little Lu Huo’s wound.

Little Lu Huo’s eyes instantly lit up, and he wasn’t afraid at all. Someone was helping Huo Huo apply the medicine, someone was holding Huo Huo’s hand, and they would blow on his hand.

With anticipation, he softly asked, “I’m Huo Huo, what’s your name?”

The pen on the desk stood up and on the white paper, Qiao Xi wrote: Xi Xi.

Little Lu Huo recognized this character.

When he couldn’t write any words, not even his own name, the first name he learned to write was Xi Xi.

Before, he only knew how to write, didn’t recognize this character, but now he knew.

By the window, Little Lu Huo suppressed his voice, and except for Qiao Xi, no one heard him. He softly called out, “Xi Xi.”
